Why algo traders need a static IP now

SEBI’s framework for retail algorithmic trading requires brokers to accept API orders only from whitelisted IP addresses. Home broadband and mobile data change IP often, which can block your orders at the worst time.

Broker IP whitelisting

Register one fixed IP in your broker’s API console. Every order your bot sends comes from that same address.

No dynamic IP rejections

Your home router restarts, your ISP rotates your IP — and orders fail. A static IP removes that risk.

24×7 uptime

Run your strategy on a server in an Indian data center, not on a laptop that sleeps or loses Wi-Fi.

Low latency in India

Indian IP and Indian data centers keep the round trip to broker servers short.

Frequently asked questions

Why do I need a static IP for algo trading in India?

Under SEBI’s retail algo trading framework, brokers allow API order placement only from IP addresses you have registered with them. A home broadband or mobile connection usually changes its IP, so orders can get rejected. A static IP stays fixed, so you register it once with your broker.

Which brokers does this work with?

A static IP is broker-agnostic. You can whitelist it in the developer or API console of brokers that offer trading APIs, such as Zerodha Kite Connect, Fyers, Upstox, Angel One SmartAPI or Dhan. Always follow your broker’s current instructions for IP registration.

VPS or static proxy IP – which should I choose?

Choose a VPS if you want your strategy to run 24×7 on a server that does not depend on your PC or internet. Choose a static proxy IP if your bot already runs on your own computer and you only need a fixed Indian IP for API calls.

Is the IP dedicated to me?

Yes. Each plan comes with its own IP address. Check the product page for the exact IP series and configuration before ordering.

Can I run Python, Amibroker or MT5 on these servers?

Yes. Linux VPS plans suit Python, Node.js and API-based bots. Windows RDP plans suit desktop platforms such as Amibroker, MT4/MT5 bridges and Excel-based strategies.
